What is Aliyah?

“Aliyah” is a Hebrew word that means “to ascend, to go up.”

Therefore, when Jewish people make aliyah—return to the Land that the LORD God of Israel has given them—they are ascending or going up both physically and spiritually. God exiled the Jews from their Land, but He also promised to bring them back. We are now living in days of fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

Here is one of many promises (Isaiah 43:5–7 NKJV):

5 “Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west;

6 “I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not keep them back!’ Bring My sons from afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth

7 “Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.”
